Terms and EULA

Terms of use and licence.

The licence that comes with Conn, what we ask of you, what you can expect from us, and the terms for this website, in plain English.

Last updated 25 October 2026

In short

  • Conn is licensed to you through the App Store under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
  • You pay once. Purchases and refunds go through Apple.
  • Use Conn only with machines you own or are allowed to use. You're responsible for the commands you run.
  • Nothing here takes away your rights as a consumer under the law.

These terms are between you and Maritime Master Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15339200), the maker of Conn. "We" and "us" mean Maritime Master Limited.

Your licence to use Conn (the EULA)

When you get Conn from the App Store, you're licensed to use it under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"), with Maritime Master Limited as the application provider. The Standard EULA is the licence agreement for Conn. It sets out, among other things, that Conn is licensed to you rather than sold, that you may use it on Apple devices you own or control as the App Store's usage rules allow, and that you may not copy, reverse engineer or redistribute it except as the law allows.

The rest of this page explains how Conn works within that licence. If anything here conflicts with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA applies.

Buying, updates and refunds

  • One price, once. Conn is a paid app with no subscription and no in-app purchases. One purchase covers Conn on iPhone, iPad and Mac with the same Apple Account.
  • Apple handles payment. We never see your payment details. Prices are set per country and shown on the App Store.
  • Refunds go through Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com, under Apple's rules and your rights under the law.
  • Updates. We may release updates that fix problems, add features or change how Conn works. We can't promise any particular feature in future, and we describe what Conn does today, not what it might do.

Using Conn responsibly

Conn gives you direct control of computers. With that comes responsibility:

  • Connect only to machines you own or have permission to use. Accessing a computer without permission is a crime in the UK under the Computer Misuse Act 1990, and in most other countries.
  • You're responsible for the commands you run, the files you change and the settings you choose on your machines. Commands can change or delete data, so keep backups of anything that matters.
  • Don't use Conn to break the law, to harm or disrupt other people's systems, or to get round security you aren't allowed to get round.
  • Keep your devices, passwords and keys safe. Anyone who can unlock your device may be able to use Conn, so consider turning on app lock.

Your machines, your data

Conn connects straight from your device to your machines. We don't host, see or keep what you type, the files you move or what your screens show (see the privacy policy). That also means we can't recover anything for you: your data lives on your machines and your devices.

How your machines are set up is up to you. For example, a screen sent without encryption can be seen by others on the network, and a screen's port opened on a router can be reached by anyone. Conn warns you about the first and never asks you to do the second. Our security tips explain more.

Other companies' services

Conn can work with services run by others, such as Apple's iCloud, Handoff and Shortcuts, Tailscale, and the SSH and VNC servers on your machines. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to them, and we aren't responsible for how they work. Conn is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.

Open-source software

Conn is built with open-source software, each part used under its own licence: SwiftTerm and BigInt (MIT License); Apple's SwiftNIO SSH, which Conn patches, with SwiftNIO, Swift Crypto and Apple's other Swift packages (Apache License 2.0); CodeEditorView (Apache License 2.0); and Rearrange (BSD License). The terminal fonts Fira Code, JetBrains Mono and IBM Plex Mono are used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, and Conn lists them, with the sources of its terminal themes, in Settings, Acknowledgements. Every component, with its copyright and the full licence text, is on our Acknowledgements page.

Warranty and liability

If you're a consumer in the UK, the law gives you rights that these terms don't take away. Digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it isn't, you may be entitled to a repair, a replacement or some or all of your money back. Citizens Advice can tell you more about your rights.

Apart from those rights, and as far as the law allows, Conn is provided as is, with no warranty. You are responsible for the machines you connect to and the commands you run on them.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Otherwise, as far as the law allows, we aren't liable for:

  • losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen;
  • loss or damage caused by commands you run, changes you make or how your machines and networks are set up;
  • loss of data you could have protected with a backup;
  • business losses, such as lost profit, revenue or opportunity, where you use Conn for a business.

Where the Standard EULA sets a limit on liability, that limit applies as far as the law allows.

This website

This website tells you about Conn. We work to keep it accurate, but it may change, and the App Store listing and the app itself are the final word on what the current version does. Links to other websites are for your convenience; we aren't responsible for their content.

The words, pictures and design of this site belong to Maritime Master Limited. You're welcome to use the screenshots and icon in our press kit to write about Conn, as long as you don't change them in a way that misleads.

Trademarks

Conn and the Conn icon are used by Maritime Master Limited. Apple, iPhone, iPad, Mac and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries and regions. Raspberry Pi is a trademark of Raspberry Pi Ltd. VNC is a trademark of RealVNC Limited. Tailscale is a trademark of Tailscale Inc. Conn is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of these companies.

Changes and the law that applies

We may update these terms, for example when Conn or the law changes. We'll change the date at the top and publish the new version here. If a change matters, we'll say so in the app's release notes.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you live elsewhere, you keep the protection of the consumer law where you live.
